Next Generation Men and Women is a non-profit organization that was struggling to maintain dozens of spreadsheets and program management systems. To remedy this, LookThink configured the Salesforce Nonprofit Starter Pack (NPSP) to consolidate their documentation and integrations for better user experience while they close the opportunity gap for the youth of Atlanta.

CognoSIS held multiple discovery sessions before beginning configuration in order to learn about Next Gen’s current workflows and identify areas of improvement. From there, CognoSIS built off the Salesforce Nonprofit Starter Pack (NPSP) to translate those workflows into Salesforce objects for a tailored solution.

Next Generation Men & Women is an Education Non-Profit that closes the opportunity gap for High School students by creating a path to graduation and success after High School through exposure to colleges, career options, and support.
Managing with Salesforce
Next Generation Men and Women had two main areas in their workflow they wanted to improve using Salesforce: Fundraising/Donor Management and Program Management. Using Salesforce NPSP, we were able to rely on the data structure Salesforce builds for similar organizations. During the discovery sessions we held at the onset of the project, Next Gen provided insight into their various spreadsheets and management systems so we could determine how much custom work was needed.
The donor data was primarily hosted in Bloomerang, which housed all of their account information including individual donors, schools, the board, corporate, grants, and more. They used different Google Spreadsheets to build reports and pull metrics for annual performance analyses. After identifying solutions to improve this structure, we use dataloader.io to migrate donor account information into Salesforce. From there, we were able to configure the donor data in a way that could be easily reported without relying on alternative tracking methods.

Next Gen manages programs with students from different schools and school districts in Atlanta to coordinate events that expose them to and connect their interests to local colleges and companies, and plans for future success after high school.

As CognoSIS completed the configuration of certain Salesforce sections, we held training sessions walking the Program and Operations Manager through the new workflows we built. These sessions also allowed us to identify even more opportunities for improvement as we gathered insight from personnel directly responsible for the management of the data in question. These sessions were recorded and shared with the Next Gen team for future use by administrators and staff.
