The ideal candidate will have spent time working on teams - with both designers and developers. You should be able to make and communicate deliberate design decisions and to translate any given user-experience journey into an intuitive user interface. This is a full-time, salaried, Washington, DC-based position with benefits. We are also open to considering remote applicants at this time.

  • Create, improve and use brands, mockups, wireframes, prototypes, style guides, user flows, etc. and effectively communicate your ideas using any of these methods.

  • Be a great team player. Demonstrate a history of successful collaboration within a team-based setting.

  • Comfort with technology, and an ability to collaborate closely with developers, database architects, system admins, system configurators, etc.

  • Present and defend your design decisions. Demonstrate an awareness of (and position on) the relationship between the project roadmap, your own design thinking, and fundamental design principles to both internal teams as well as clients.

  • Ability to interact with and educate clients throughout the design process.

  • Continually keep yourself and your design team updated with the latest changes and trends in the UX design space.

Requirements

  • Three or more years of experience and a proven track record.

  • Strong portfolio with digital web/product UI design work to be presented and reviewed during interview.

  • Hands-on experience creating mockups, wireframes, prototypes, storyboards, user flows, etc. as well as creating, applying and/or extending brands to these deliverables.

  • Experience using tools such as Sketch, UXPin, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, InVision, etc.

  • Ability to generate creative ideas with a problem-solving mindset.

  • Comfort/openness to receiving objective criticism and improving upon it.

  • Understanding of basic front-end languages: HTML5, CSS3, Javascript.

  • Comfort using/administering common CMS platforms (e.g. Drupal, WordPress, etc.).

  • Experience presenting to and/or communicating directly with end clients.
